    The BECKHOFF EL6688 is an EtherCAT terminal designed for precise time synchronization according to IEEE 1588 standards. It supports PTPv1 (IEEE 1588-2002) and PTPv2 (IEEE 1588-2008) protocols. The module can operate as Master or Slave, with modes selectable via TwinCAT System Manager: “SlaveOnly”, “MasterOnly”, or “Best Master Clock”. This enables a consistent timebase across multiple EtherCAT systems and machine sections. Its compact design allows flexible installation in control cabinets
